Subject: Minstrel Booking Report, November 2018
An abbreviated report for an abbreviated month at the Minstrel. And since I will be busy as a two-peckered goat over the next few weeks, I’m getting this out early. There will probably be more to report at the meeting itself.
Due to Getaway, OpenStage, and Halloween occupying 3 of the 4 Fridays in October, there was only one show, that featuring Abbie Gardner. That drew an OK attendance of 86, and reaped a profit of $132. Last month our YTD profits finally broke into the black. This month our previous 12-monthly profits followed suit, netting a big $35. (YTD as of this month was +$414.)
As of this month, the past 12 months of the Minstrel did not include any Open Stages. (Or OpenStages.) So the attached chart no longer reports on “regular” shows and “all” shows. (The “Paid Attendance, All Shows” column used to include Open Stages.) So I’ve replaced the Paid Attendance, All Shows column with Total Attendance, which includes volunteers, redeemed ticks, redeemed 2nd-timer passes, and performers’ guests.
On October 12, Andy Goessling, string player for the Shockenaw Mountain Boys succumbed to cancer. Consequently, the band had to cancel their performance scheduled for November 16. I made a couple of attempts to book a replacement on short notice, but none of the acts I queried were available. We will cancel that show, and there will be a music party at the Schaffers’ that night.
At the Abbie Gardner concert, the computer through which the Concert Window signal gets broadcast crapped out in the middle of the show. John Mahon and Alex West are looking into this. Hopefully I will have more to report at the meeting. All ticket purchases and tips were refunded to our viewers.
As of the date of this writing, there has been no further progress in the Advanced Ticket Sales program. I’m expecting to go live with those sales starting in November, and we will be selling tickets for shows starting January 18.
New Bookings this month:
Feb. 22nd: Todd Dennison & Friends for a feature set of his own
Apr. 19th: The Green Planet Band, consisting of two 10-year olds, one 13-year old, and their mother gleaned from the Open Stage, to open for Del Ray.
Highlight for November:
Nov. 23rd: Windborne, the harmony quartet that opened for Frank Vignola, and was voted by the audience to come back as a headliner gets their set on this Thanksgiving Friday. They are spectacular.
Respectfully Submitted,
