After a very quiet January, February was a busy month for sound.
At the Valentine’s Day show, a problem developed with loud pops coming through the system whenever the cables connecting to the snake reel were vibrated.
In troubleshooting this the following week, I found one of our new cables had gone bad. This was most unusual since they are high quality professional cables that Bob had purchased just last year, but the good news was that given their high quality, they had a lifetime guarantee! The bad cable was replaced under warranty and was in place for the Rich Dean show on Feb. 24th. Mike A. put the new labels on both ends that day, and at this past show, I put the white color coding tape on both ends.
I’m in the process of replacing the power amp in the Minstrel’s mixer console. The old amp was making too much acoustic noise, so that anyone sitting near the board was hearing both the cooling fans as well as a high pitched whine. The new amp should be in this week.
The Peavey VSX26 speaker processor has been removed from the Minstrel’s console rack. This unit was only used at Festival, and then, only at the old site we no longer go to. It is not used at The Minstrel, so it has been removed to keep the system as simple as possible and help avoid any confusion.
See ‘ya all tomorrow.
