We are getting closer to having the Mendham TV studio up and running. Lori got the insurance certificate from the new insurance company sent over and I forwarded it over to Mendham Twp.and picked up the forms for the building permit (on which Mendham Twp. is waiving all fees - Hurray!). Ken Brody is meeting me Monday morning to get the electrical permit filled out and then after we get the permit he will be able to put in new light fixtures and two new quad electrical boxes in the control room and I will be able to install the door and plexiglas window. Sandie has been familiarizing herself with the new cameras and the Tricast editing/graphics/effects computer so she can train the crew when the studio is ready. I am planning to be the guinea pig guest artist the first time we attempt to tape and Tommy has agreed to be the host for that show. Then finally we will be able to start booking in guest artists! Many thanks again to FP Board for their vote of confidence in funding the studio equipment!
Sandie's Report:
I cleaned and pressed about a football field's worth of backdrop and returned them to the studio. They are on the counter for now as I didn't see the tubing and even if I did, I didn't have enough time to put them up anyway. I was there on Friday afternoon from about 3-5pm and when I asked Shannon to check what was on, HSNOI was airing. YAY!!
I bought curtains and a rug for the space. I hung curtains in the bathroom and the studio, lay the small rug and restored the set positioning and cleaned the bathroom up a bit more. I put the animal toys in the kitchen cabinet with other toys and craft supplies. I also did a bit more cleaning and arranging. The floor is a mess still and you can hardly see the effort we made in cleaning it.
The rug I got is small. It's OK but I'll keep my eyes open for a remanent at the carpet store near me for a more appropriate one.
I am in the process of learning the cameras and went to a show with the intentions of only recording Andrew Dunn's performance. It turns out that this was a benefit concert for the community and families of a church in TX where 26 people died in a shooting in November. I decided to tape the entire concert except for one song from the opening singer as it hadn't dawned on me yet that while the cash and personal notes our local community was sending were heartfelt, being able to see, hear and feel the love that went into the production would be a priceless gift. The video will be sent for the private viewing of their community without broadcast as the credits.many songs were covers. If they choose to air the concert they will need to secure permissions. I will put a note to the effect of, "this recording was made possible in part by the generous support of The Folk Project.' and offer website info in the credits.
