Swingin' Tern has had an OK year for 2010.
Financially, we expect to end the year breaking about even
Average total attendance at dances has been 63 people. This is similar to last year; it would be good to have another 10 people at each dance. The college outreach effort should help. The emails to school clubs haven't gone out yet - but will soon.
After serving as our Booking Chair for several years, during which time, he made significant efforts to develop callers and improve the quality of dancing, Bob Isaacs is stepping down. Dan Black will be taking over as the Booking Chair. Dan is an excellent caller who has benefited from Bob's mentoring and will continue to receive input and support from Bob as he takes on this new task. Dan is also interested in attending some FP Board meetings.
I will be looking for help from the Publicity and Website folks in facilitating the formatting of booking information for distribution - it would be nice to have a website back-office data file where Dan can put all the info for each dance and where whoever needs it can get it
Xander Kastan has taken over volunteer coordination. Many thanks to Joel Remde who has been doing this for a zillion years
Gloria Friedman has agreed to attend FP Board meetings to help build dancer presence
I still need to find a dancer to participate on the Festival Committee
Joel Remde and I cleaned out the sound closet, tossed lots of old stuff, rebuilt the shelves with stronger materials, and sorted all the remaining stuff into large tupperware bins. The closet is much neater now which should make it easier to do set up and take down for dances and special events.
