Webmaster report – John Lamb
It has been an eventful month with a hurricane and a nor'easter interrupting my power and Internet access and preventing me from being able to do as much as I would have liked. However, our servers on the west coast were quite unaffected by the storms and the site remained up for those who had the ability to access it. The distributed design of the site meant that others were able to enter emergency messages about Minstrel cancellations and Swingin’ Tern non-cancellations even when your webmaster could not. As things here in NJ return to normal, the site is running smoothly, as it has for many months.
Mega-kudos go out to Lori Falco, who has completed the new design that will enable the Minstrel-Gram to be sent through Constant Contact. Mike Agranoff and Allan Kugel also provided invaluable assistance testing the design and providing suggestions for improvement. We expect the first issue to be sent through CC on November 23.
As always, we welcome suggestions, comments and questions sent to webmaster@folkproject.org.
Facebook report – Pam Robinson
All upcoming Minstrel concerts through March 1, 2013 are now set up as Events on the FP's Facebook page. Please join the Event and Invite your friends to the Event.
Chairman’s report – Nancy Kelner
Publicity committee member Michael Mitsch represented the Folk Project at the Morris County Freeholders meeting on Oct 10. They proclaimed October as Arts Month and there was a photo opportunity for the arts organizations that attended.
There was great placement of the Folk Project festival on the Morristown Green website in its Oct. 4 email – it was the first item in the weekend events list.
Posted Minstrel and Swingin’ Tern to the NJ Travel website for the six-month interval October 2012 through March 2013. Received help from our contact there; it’s nice to have a name to contact for assistance.
Sent November Swingin’ Tern info to MUF for the first time for its newsletter; asked that they print it if they have room. (We have been sending them Minstrel info for months.)
Asked our NJ Monthly contact to add special concerts chairman’s phone number to the Dec. 28 concert listing and it was taken care of. (It’s nice to have a name to contact when we need assistance.)
Emailed our major outlets and a few minor outlets on Nov. 8 re: no open stage on Nov. 9, in case they were able to report it in time; also changed some postings.
Set out some flyers and FP cards at a Mountainside library concert on Oct. 3. Normally they only allow free events to be publicized, but between attending their Folk Music Café and tagging along when the NJIO Outreach Ensemble performs, I have established a relationship with the library director over the years.
Many thanks to the members of the publicity committee, who work so hard to get the word out!
