Subject: July Minstrel Report
An OK month at the Minstrel. Average attendance of 85.3 for regular shows was a little low, but no disaster. Average over the past 12 months is 90.6. Unexpectedly good turnout for Straight Drive, indicating some bluegrass fans are out there in the woodwork somewhere. The Birthday Show was particularly disappointing. Attendance of 95 was 2nd lowest on record, and it had the smallest number of performers. Also many of our more accomplished performer members declined to take part, which disturbs me. True many of the usual suspects were in a group vacation to Ireland at the time, but it's a trend that I don't like. The show did add $650 to our coffers, though. As a result, we made $453 for the month, and are $1884 in the black year to date.
At the Birthday Show, we asked patrons to help with the kitchen cleanup, which eased the task of the kitchen staff considerably. We will be doing that henceforth. Sandie's idea.
New bookings since July 1:
· September 17 was for some reason very hard to fill. I finally booked Red Hen, an old-timey band headed by fiddler Jane Rothfield, with singer-guitarist Danielle Miraglia opening
· Oct 15: I filled in the opening act for Agranoff Imperative Brian McNeill with a new duo, The Geezer and the Kid. (Mike Agranoff and Connor Dugan). Might seem self-serving, but Connor is the real star of that group.
We are now completely booked for the year with the exception of November 26, which will be another FP Members' Show set up by Mark Schaffer. Also I have not yet booked the personnel for the Chorus Song Night.
