All,
The report for January 6, 2015, features optimism for the new year and some great plans. For starters, two new microphone stands with telescoping booms will be in the house on Friday night. The work session we hoped for December is now planned for February, when a list of smaller odds-and-ends will be fixed and / or replaced. Both monitor speakers have things rattling around, connectors are loose, the snake head needs a couple of connectors replaced, and the like. One or two hands will be helpful that day. We'll run through the cables, too, to identify the snarky ones and to label new ones.
Permanent MUUF sound
This project has taken on a whole new life, as the board members will discuss at the meeting. A sizeable moneteary gift from a Folk Project member will nearly double the budget for the permanent sound system. The MUUF people are considering our participation, and what gets built into the renovated Sanctuary could be impressive. MUUF and Folk Project people will be meeting over the next few weeks to iron out the details.
Sound at the door
Jeff Saxton has been taking the lead on setting up and maintaining the wireless monitor speaker at the front desk. Thanks so much, Jeff.
Sound training
As we know, The Minstrel and other Folk Project concerts will be moving to the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township during the summer and early fall of 2015. PCCT is the home to The Sanctuary Concerts series and its sound and lighting system. Over the coming months interested Folk Project soundies should consider helping with the Sanctuary shows to get know the set up and take down routines, and how to operate the digital console. The spare analog console will be brought to PCCT in the event that a soundie prefers it. In the coming weeks Mike Agranoff, Barrett Wilson and I will be visiting PCCT to iron out details and to work out the routines at the new venue.
