Webmaster Report – John Lamb
The website continues on it merry way with updates flowing in from many sources - Minstrel, Swingin' Tern, HSNOI, Festival and Special Concerts. There has been some preliminary discussion of a proposed privacy policy that should get additional consideration at the upcoming board meeting. Thanks are due to Lori Falco and Allan Kugel for their continuing efforts to help me keep the site rolling along. As always, questions, comments and suggestions are welcomed at webmaster@folkproject.org
Facebook Report - Pam Robinson
On the morning of August 31, radio station WFUV (wfuv.org) announced their calendar listings for the day and Grover Kemble at the Minstrel was on the list.
FaceBook - Over the last 12 months, the Folk Project's FaceBook page has increased by an average of about 10.5 "likes" per month (or 125 new likes) and we have had an average of less than 1 person per month "dislike" our page (or 9 dislikes). This gives us a new total of 574
"likes".
Publicity Chairman Report – Nancy Kelner
Publicity, Facebook and the website are rolling along merrily, thanks to the hard-working members of the publicity committee!
We have had some more coverage in the Suburban News (a free paper in Union County). They must have a dancer on staff – they like to list Swingin’ Tern dances! Or perhaps they think East Hanover isn’t that far from central Union County. All three September dances were in the Aug. 29 issue. The Cranford Chronicle (published by the same publisher) has listed a few Swingin’ Tern dances and also listed several August Minstrel concerts under “ongoing events” in the Aug. 17 issue.
Sent a radio station list to the publicist for Bill Staines at her request.
Lindsey Meyer noticed that Minstrel events on nj.com appear to be sponsored by MUF. Was surprised to hear that, since we don’t post to nj.com! I emailed our contact at the Star-Ledger and discovered that they post the events. They will use “Minstrel at Morristown Unitarian Fellowship” from now on.
Bill Nutt of the Daily Record did a nice article about Bob Malone, who appeared at the Minstrel in August. The link is www.dailyrecord.com/article/20120817/NJENT/308170022/Return-native
Kevin Coughlin of Morristown Green continues to give the Minstrel good exposure on his website.
Festival co-chair Mark Schaffer wrote a press release about the fall festival, which the publicity committee sent out.
Discovered that Jim King’s 2011 article with a link to the Folk Project website is on the NJ Skylands Visitor website - www.njskylands.com/cl_folkproject_113.htm. You may recall that the magazine agreed to print a story about us if we wrote it ourselves.
Discovered that the Folk Project is listed under Arts & Culture on the Princeton On Line website. Emailed and asked that they add a phone number; await reply.
