For the past twelve months, the sound committee worked the following issues:
1. Repairs:
We had a severe noise problem at a Minstrel in the spring that resulted in loud audio noises during the show. The troubleshooting was a bit complex, but we narrowed it down to a bad mike cable, and that was replaced under warranty.
2 . System Enhancements:
We upgraded the power amp at the Minstrel to a more powerful amp that was both quitter as well as 35 pounds lighter than the amp it replaced. This lowered the weight of the console by 35 pounds, making set up and tear down easier.
We installed a light on the Minstrel console to make operation of the board easier.
We upgraded with wire management in the console to increase reliability.
3. Future Looking:
With MUF having decided to stay put and continue using the present meeting room, we have started discussions with their sound committee to explore options for sound system enhancements. The first meeting is set up for later this month.
In addition to the above items, the largest work item for the year was the preparation of the grant application to the Hyde and Watson Foundation. Unfortunately, we did not win the grant.
