Subject: Folk Project Membership as of 12/3/19

Folk Project board members,

As of 12/3/19, we have 290 memberships consisting of 426 people, an decrease of 19 memberships and a decrease of 24 people compared to last month.

The Membership committee (Deborah Graham, Cecilia Rowedder, and me) had a very productive meeting last month!

After a hiatus since May (which was not realized for several months), the Membership renewal letter process is now back on track with 135 renewal letters to be sent out this week.

The committee has also developed a set of initiatives which will guide the committee's work for the coming year. These initiatives will be shared with the board next month.

Rosters in PDF and Excel formats are attached to this message.

Respectfully submitted,

Membership Committee Annual Report

As we approach the end of 2019, we currently have 426 members, a significant decrease from the same time last year when we had 491 members. However, this decrease does not mean that we have had a mass exodus of members!

This decrease occurred as a result of an unintended hiatus in the sending out of membership renewal letters. There are 135 letters being sent out this week to members whose membership has lapsed since June. I fully expect that a large percentage of these folks will renew their membership, resulting in a net increase of members for the year.

The membership committee has also taken steps to ensure that membership renewal letters will be sent out on a regular basis going forward.

By offering member discount pricing, Getaway has continued to be a major contributor to both new and renewing memberships.

A new quick and easy membership form is now being distributed at all Troubadour events. This form requires just a name, email address and payment at the door with a follow up email request to the new member for additional info. This form is available for all venues, so please let me know if you need some forms. Thanks to Mark Schaffer for creating the new form!

OpenStage offered a “new member” package at the SummerSongs event, which included free admission to the show, a one-year Folk Project membership, and free admission to an OpenStage and regular Troubadour concert. Thanks to Mitch Radler for offering this package!

The membership committee has developed a set of initiatives which will guide the committee's work for the coming year. Stay tuned!

Special thanks to Deborah Graham, Cecilia Rowedder, Eddie Roffman, John Lamb, Joanne Cronin, Folk Project board members, and our Folk Project members for their efforts, encouragement, suggestions, and feedback.
