Hello Everyone,
For those who don't know, our checking account was hacked. Someone entered a Well Fargo Branch in Atlanta with a check with our account number and tried to cash it for almost $20,000. They were unsuccessful due to the bank. The down side was I had to close our current account and open a new one with new checks and deposit slips. I apologize for not letting everyone know sooner. I will need a current list with names and address of everyone who makes deposits to I can get the new slips to them. If I didn't like Wells Fargo before I definitely don't like them now. Although they caught the problem they are impossible to communicate with.
Also, earlier the same week I got a hacked email from Elizabeth requesting I pay in invoice for $8,000 which I caught quickly. It looked legit until I looked at the email address... George Otto's email is very true. I've become extra vigilant with email now.
I have not attached a Profit & Loss Statement this month. I just got some final figures from Mark for a lot of the programs he ran this summer and wanted to include them in the report. Karen is away until the 9th. Once quickbooks is updated I will get a report to anyone who needs one.
I know I have become more vocal lately. I finally feel more in control of the Treasurer position. It is a bear to learn all the nuances and information you need to do the job well. In that vein I am going to try and put together a manual with all the information I have learned so who ever follows me will have the information at their finger tips and not scatted in the wiki or in Chris's head. Hopefully it won't take too long and will become a work in progress as we adopt new processes and activities. Im hoping the Manual and the Bookkeeper should make future treasures less likely to run away when asked to serve.
Respectfully submitted
Peggy Karr
Treasurer
