The January,” 2nd Saturday” music gathering was at the home of Margaret Crowl in Hanover. The attendance was 17. The group included mostly regulars, one new person and one person who has moved away and came back to visit.
The January Bonus gathering was at Eddie and Robin Roffman's. I did not attend, but nothing unusual was reported to me.
The February, “2nd Saturday” music gathering will be at the home of Steve and Christine Humphreys in Randolph and will include Christine Humpheys' portrait photo shoot as an additional attraction.
The possibility of changing the name of the gathering was brought up at the January Board meeting. I believe it is not good for me to make the decision myself so I conducted an informal survey of members. I requested input from 50 people. This group of people included all thus far scheduled 2015 gathering hosts, the entire Board and various other members with whom I had an opportunity for conversation. I did not receive responses from all the people who received this inquiry by email, but here is a breakdown of the feedback I did receive (both by email and verbally):
3 expressed they liked "Home Made Music Party"
22 expressed they like returning to "Evening of Music"
So the name "Evening of Music" reflected a higher response than "Home Made Music Party" in my informal survey. Also, since the reason for re-branding the event no longer applies with the discontinuation of the featured performer format, I believe a return to the name "Evening of Music" with its familiarity and age-old history of meaning behind it is a good idea. I will provide an explanation for the return to the old moniker in the March newsletter.
