Dear Brood of Dearectors,
We had a successful festival on all levels: The concerts were outstanding. The workshops were well-attended and well-taught. The community spirit was extremely high. The weather sucked.
Some Nuts and Bolts:
We "sold out" Thursday. We declined at least ten admissions after we sold out. With our current sound, stage and seating improvements, we could have easily have fit the ten without adding seats.
89% rated the overall festival as very good to excellent.
We probably made $500 over our budgeted goals, but we are still calculating that.
The board is invited to a wrap-up meeting on Thursday, June 13, 7:30 pm at our house in Rockaway.
All are invited. Please RSVP.
The pre-fest planners, the festival staff, and the guest volunteers gelled and excelled as an experienced, effective and coordinated team.
When we began our chairmanship we were warned about extremely low first timer attendance and newcomer retention.
We considered both goals essential to our success and continuance of the festival. Surveys and registration show we are beyond expectations surpassing both goals.
Ultimately, our goal is a sustained biannual community of 150 mostly-regulars that does not need big-market names to maintain numbers from festival to festival.
Our initial take on the Festival's philosophy was:bfun, learning and self-expression through music and community for listeners and all levels of musicians.
We remain devoted to that philosophy.
Yours in Song & Happy Exhaustion,
Mark & Robin
