Subject: April Report to Board - Acoustic Getaway
Kids Getaway is cancelled.
Total registrations were one member with two children.
The agreement with the performers could be terminated by April 1st without cost.
We tried:
We emailed flyers and introductory letters to over 80 schools and received only two positive responses and no student responses.
Our Facebook ads had about 2,000 views, 34 clicks, and no registrations.
Our connection to one school resulted in two emails to 400 students and no registrations.
The Publicity Committee did their usual extensive and thorough distributions to no effect.
Thanks to so many members who supported the concept and the many volunteers who offered and contributed hours of help.
Launching a Getaway extension for Kids was a sensible risk because the staffing, equipment, performers, instructors and camp elements were already in place, and, therefore, the risk, investment and cost were extremely low if it failed - which it did.
Mitch will concentrate on building a family presence at Open Stage. If a core of family participation gets established, we’ll expand to a day program.
FYI: We established contacts and the possibility of a Scout program - music for merit badges. It’s good for the kids and has high likelihood of success. However, I don’t think it leads to Project memberships and participation, so I’m personally not up for it at this point.
Getaway has seven openings left. At that point we’ll decide whether to add a few more slots because the wait list does not work effectively.
Preparations for The Acoustic Getaway are moving forward as customary. Thanks to the performers and pre-Getaway crew.
