The Swingin' Tern report for March:
We held a double dance on March 7, and as usual for such a dance, the performers were excellent. Alex Deis-Lauby called to Chimney Swift.
Unsurprisingly, attendance was light. We believe that shortly before the dance, many people decided not to attend. We also realized this would likely be the last dance for a while, which we declared formally a few days later. As you know, a week after our last dance FP suspended all public events.
We lost $510 for the month.
Separately I will forward an email that details our current discussions and plans.

Hello all,
Thanks for everything you all do in support of the dance, and thanks for the responses about the future of Swingin' Tern, both the public and private ones. Here's where things stand now:
We won't resume dancing at least until the Folk Project resumes its normal activities, possibly later than that. For now we will cancel dances on a month-by-month basis. No formal decision has been made, but your expectations for May and June are almost surely correct.
Xander will book four months in advance and re-book performers from canceled dances. He will seek to book performers who live not too far away so that we can more easily cancel on dance day if there are late developments.
Right now we plan to have the New Year's Eve dance. There won't be any other big dances or double dances for the remainder of the year, probably until at least a year from now.
Initially we won't change what we pay performers, but if attendance is poor for the first few dances, we might make change compensation so it's related to attendance or make some other adjustment.
We'll decide after the first dance when to hold the following dance, and will do the same for a while after that.
We are in good standing with the church. Bill O'Sullivan made a contribution in Swingin' Tern's name, which they greatly appreciate, as they are also in a difficult financial situation. We talk to our church contact at least once a week and also exchange emails with the church leaders.
Within the Folk Project, decisions are being made after discussion among the people involved. We'll continue doing the same at Swingin' Tern.
There are many ways all this might develop. I appreciate what everyone wrote in response to the previous email. Please keep in mind that one purpose was to surface things for future consideration.
Whether to take some at-the-dance measures will be decided later. We simply don't know what the future will bring.
Again, thanks to all of you for what you've done for our dance.
We all look forward to the future.
Leigh
