Swingin' Tern report for December:
On December 2, Swingin' Tern hosted Ron Blechner calling to Dr. Twamley's Audio Snakes. On December 16, Donna Hunt called to Sprout. On New Year's
Eve, Janine Smith called to Riptide.
The performers for the first two dances are long-time favorites of Swingin' Tern's dancers. The New Year's Eve performers are regional stars in the contra dance world. All the performers created a lively atmosphere for the dancers.
In addition to the one on New Year's Eve, there was another special dance--the December 16 holiday dance, after which many people went to the annual party at Doug and Brian's.
Not all the exact figures are available yet, but for the month there was a loss of roughly $150, not counting any general FP overhead. For December, with its three dances and special New Year's Eve performers, the overhead incurred is substantially greater than for any other month.
Swingin' Tern's thirty-fourth anniversary dance is this coming Saturday, January 6. Bob Isaacs is coordinating a cast of callers, who will call to the outstanding Blue Jersey.
