Archives Committee Annual Report 2021
Documenting our Place in NJ History
Collecting by the Archives Committee has been very limited this year due to the closure of the Rutgers University Special Collections department. The closure was triggered by the double whammy of Covid followed by flooding from Hurricane Ida. Therefore, I've been unable to donate materials to our existing collection at Rutgers and am currently organizing and storing several boxes in my apartment.
One bright spot this year was the surprise recovery of one of our photo albums covering the years 1988 – 1993. It had been saved from a landfill by a man who used to work for a junk removal company. He thought the album might have historical value so he reached out to me through the Folk Project website. What a welcome gift!
Everyone with Folk Project records and photos: please hang onto them. If you need to get rid of materials, please contact me. Especially if you are moving or know a member who has passed on and may have records, please let me know.
