March 2019 Getaway Report to Board
Two Exciting Weeks in February: Uncertainties Resolved
Despite disruptions in date, location, and cost, Getaway sold out in 10 days - a surprising record.
The Eberhardt/Betsy Rose Getaway benefit was a complete success financially, musically, and socially: 60 seats, $1200 profit, a 15 first-timers.
Member donations have exceeded expectations.
Phase 2: Workshops
The clearer financial picture means we can enter Hiring Phase 2:
Due to uncertainty, “creative” booking practices were used in Phase 1: Hiring main stage performers.
Phase 2: Fill gaps in the workshops schedule begins now that the financial picture is clearer.
The result will ultimately be the best workshop program we’ve ever had - ever!
Comments on Last Month’s Comments: Telling the Future
The fear expressed at the last meeting was that better outside publicity may result in too many first-timers closing out long-time attendees. We opened registration two days early to accommodate members over outsiders. The Getaway e-list got multiple messages as the massive turnout progressed..
Surprisingly, outsiders never had a chance. Most first-time and long-absent registrants came from within the membership and the Getaway email list. Factors behind this wonderful surge include:
starting the sales campaign in October,
the new and effective video promos,
emphasizing the "partners program,"
excellent and growing word of mouth about the weekend,
and a dedicated, smart, friendly, and relentless committee.
Our Next Sales Campaign: Getaway Sunday
The outcome is uncertain. The attitude is hopeful.
