Community Service has had a very busy month.
Russ Kelner played solo at the Union YMHA for Norm Cohen’s Dad’s 90th Birthday on March 23rd.. The whole group (Cream Cheese) will play at a dinner at his Father’s Senior Housing in Springfield on April 27th.
We have 6 people playing at the Audubon May Day weekend festivities on May 1st and 2nd. I need the banner and literature for this event.
We have one person playing at the Carmel Retreat for a dinner and concert, and another person is on their waiting list for when they open more dates after October.
Wayne Day – June 6th – Joe Graziano, Mike Agranoff, and I had a meeting and so far we have the following ideas:
Wayne Day runs from 11 AM – 5 PM. We will have two flatbed stages far enough apart to have music on both stages at the same time. We have 8 people or groups who plan to play that day. We may solicit more is we think we need more people. Mike Agranoff will plan the program and staging. Mike will work with Bob Safranek and possibly Mike Del Vecchio on the sound set up.
We will also have a double booth (12’ x 24’) to person. We will need tables, chairs, and people to be in the booth during the day.
We also had the idea of running an Open Stage for two hours on one of the stages and running an “afternoon of music” in the booth. We are hoping Scooter will run the Open Stage. My plan is to put an article in the May Newsletter asking for help and participants in the Round Robin and Open Stage. We will need the banner and literature for display in the booth.
One idea, which may be too complex to do, is to do a dance demo at one of the stages. That will require dance music, (I plan to contact Mark Shaffer and Kris Lamb), a caller (Bob Isaacs?) and dancers. I will start with asking Bob Isaacs if he thinks it is doable, and if so, I will add the request for dancers to the Newletter.
Yours truly,
Pat Brangs
