French Onion Meatloaf is a delightful twist on the classic comfort food, combining the savory richness of caramelized onions with the hearty texture of traditional meatloaf. This dish offers a moist, flavorful experience that's perfect for family dinners, weeknight meals, or gatherings with friends. Its versatility allows it to be served with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or even sliced cold in a sandwich.
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
½ cup fine dry bread crumbs
½ cup rolled oats
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon dried parsley
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, condensed French onion soup, bread crumbs, rolled oats, beaten egg, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan, pressing it down to form a loaf shape.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160°F (70°C).
Let the meatloaf rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
