Creamy Ranch Chicken is a comforting skillet dish featuring juicy pan-seared chicken breasts enveloped in a rich, zesty cream sauce. Infused with the bold flavors of ranch seasoning, this dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, making it a family favorite for weeknight dinners.
Full Recipe:
For the Chicken:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (5–8 oz. each)
Salt and pepper, to taste
3 tablespoons butter, divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Sauce:
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
½ cup milk
¼ cup sour cream
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 oz. packet ranch seasoning mix
Prepare the Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even 1-inch thickness using a meat mallet. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Sear the Chicken: In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add olive oil. Sear the chicken breasts for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to low and add the remaining butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually add the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
Add Dairy and Seasonings: Stir in the milk, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and ranch seasoning mix. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and heated through.
Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
