Cruffins are a delectable fusion of a croissant and a muffin, offering the best of both worlds. These pastries are made by layering buttery, cinnamon sugar coated dough, rolling it up, and baking it in a muffin tin. The result is a flaky, sweet treat that's perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a delightful snack.
Full Recipe:
3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll sheets
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Preheat Oven & Prepare Muffin Tin
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Prepare Dough Sheets
On a lightly floured surface, unroll each tube of crescent roll dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. If using perforated dough, pinch the seams to seal.
Apply Butter
Spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter evenly over each sheet of dough.
Add Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle ¼ cup of this mixture evenly over the buttered dough, gently pressing it into the dough.
Roll the Dough
Starting from the long edge, tightly roll each dough sheet into a log.
Cut the Dough Logs
Cut each log in half, then cut each half lengthwise to create four sections per log. Repeat with the remaining dough sheets. You should have 12 sections in total.
Shape the Cruffins
Working with one section at a time, roll it into a spiral with the layered side facing outward. Tuck the end piece underneath and place it into the prepared muffin tin. Repeat with the remaining sections.
Bake
Bake the cruffins in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar
Remove the cruffins from the oven and immediately roll each one in the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Serve
Allow the cruffins to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best taste.
