This Classic Homestyle Meatloaf is a comforting and flavorful dish that combines ground beef with a blend of seasonings, breadcrumbs, and a tangy glaze. It's perfect for family dinners and pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
For the Meatloaf:
1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
¾ cup breadcrumbs
½ cup grated onion
¾ cup beef broth
1 large egg, beaten
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground sage
¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Sauce:
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside.
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, beef broth, beaten egg, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, ground sage, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Shape the Meatloaf:
Transfer the meat mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan, pressing it down to form a loaf shape.
Apply the Sauce:
Spread half of the prepared sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Add Remaining Sauce:
After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining sauce over the top. Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Rest and Serve:
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
