The name "Lore Keeper" was used to refer broadly to a Jedi Knight who has adhered to the school of thought that earned one the rank of Jedi Consular within the Jedi Order. The Lore Keepers, made up of archivists, historians, and librarians, looked after the knowledge reservoirs that allowed the Order to develop and learn, drawing on the knowledge of the Jedi Masters who had long since passed away as well as that of the scholars of the present and future.

History/Background Body Paragraph: 

The Lore Keepers, one of the oldest ranks in the Jedi Order, served on Tython before the Galactic Republic. They stewarded knowledge accumulated by Jedi High Council member Rajivari and tended to the first incarnation of the Jedi Archives, the Fount of Rajivari. As the Order grew, the Lore Keeper position became more defined, with three distinct roles: Librarian's Assembly, Chief Librarian, and Caretaker of First Knowledge. The Chief Librarian, the overseer of the Archives, and protector of its knowledge, worked closely with the Caretaker of First Knowledge. The Chief Librarian also held the title of Caretaker in the time following the Ruusan Reformation with Master Restelly Quist. The final Chief Librarian, former Jedi High Council member Jocasta Nu, died during Operation: Knightfall.

After the reformation of the Order under Grand Master Luke Skywalker, Tionne Solusar took up the role of Chief Librarian, restoring the Stacks and adding information missing from the time of the Galactic Civil War. Master Solusar eventually stepped down, and the title was given to Master Markre Medjev.

Lore Keepers are made up of Archivists, Historians, and Librarians.

Jedi archivists stored text, organized information, and specialized in knowledge retrieval, assisting diplomats and data-retrieval missions. They rarely saw combat and focused on knowledge dissemination. Jedi historians, part of the Librarian's Assembly, researched Jedi history and Republic origins, overseeing Holocrons led by Caretaker of First Knowledge. Jedi librarians served as the main interface for knowledge at the Temple.
