Maz Kanata is an unknown species. The only close description we have got near this species is a name "ギルブロジアン", this name translates to: “Gilbrogian'' but still not certain. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:
As the story tells, Maz was a Force Sensitive born in 973 BBY meaning, she was born over a millennium before the First Order. Who later learned to live and thrive in the criminal underworld of the galaxy known as "Pirate Queen” being that she allowed traveling smugglers to reside in her home with the condition of them not being part of war or against politics. Kanata resided in the castle, which was a battleground between ancient Jedi and Sith many years ago, but within the castle it was rumored that she was the one who started the Jedi Order. Maz had a boyfriend called Chewbacca, and did not mention much. Maz used to take care of a child, during the High Republic Era. One day three criminals delivered a baby Aloxian. Kanata was surprised when she opened the box to find the infant Qort inside taking care of him.

She has brown eyes, wispy white hair, and burnt-orange skin. Her face was wrinkled by centuries of hearty laughter and kind smiles, also has a height of 1.24 meters (4 feet and 1 inch) with an orange skin. She used a force ability for protection and never really became a Jedi. Chewbacca as her boyfriend.
