Known for their innate ability to assume the appearance of humanoids, Clawdites are a sentient reptilian species from the planet Zolan. The Clawdites possess chromatophores, which allow them to copy and transform into another person. This transformation was however restricted in their inability to change body size or mass, the need for great concentration, and the interference of heavy armour. Because of their ability, mistrust cultivated within society, resulting in the majority of Clawdites choosing to assume a ‘persona’ in public instead of using their original form. This original form consists of rough, textured skin that could range from pale yellow all the way to dark green, and slitted eyes that ranged from yellow to deep blue.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

The evolutionary path of the Clawdites on Zolan underwent significant transformation due to a surge in solar radiation, resulting in a profound alteration of their homeworld’s climate. After intense exposure to the solar radiation, several adaptations occurred within the Clawdite's physiology that helped them survive, such as their ability to shapeshift.  Leveraging their expertise in espionage and infiltration, the Clawdite frequently engaged in roles as mercenaries and bounty hunters. Notably, just before the eruption of the Clone Wars, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker pursued the Clawdite bounty hunter Zam Wesell across Coruscant. In the course of the Clone Wars, the bounty hunter Cad Bane enlisted the help of a Clawdite named Cato Parasitti in a successful mission to pilfer a Jedi Holocron from the Jedi Temple, with Cato disguising herself as the deceased Jedi Ord Enisence. In the early stages of the rebellion against the Galactic Empire, a Clawdite bounty hunter attempted to infiltrate the Spectres by assuming the guise of Garazeb Orrelios but was ultimately thwarted.

The Clawdites weren’t the only organism whose traits were affected due to the solar flares on Zolan, the majority of them unable to cope with the heightened radiation and dying. This resulted in vast portions of the planet becoming a desolate wasteland, void of life. However, some other organisms such as the Monzu also mutated, who also gained the ability to shape-shift. Certain Clawdites opted for a concealed existence, electing to withhold their genuine species from acquaintances due to concerns that their true nature might breed mistrust or potential exploitation. In numerous instances, individuals from across the galaxy who interacted with a Clawdite remained oblivious to their authentic appearance and identity as shape-shifters. The awareness of a Clawdite's presence often prompted people to exercise greater caution, and the mere whisper of their existence raised alarms among those with guilty intentions, compelling them to heighten their vigilance.
