General Information Body Paragraph:

The Chiss Senate was the primary ruling organisation of the Chiss Ascendancy itself. Others might call it the Chiss Parliament or even shorter, they’d just call it The Parliament. The Ascendancy consisted of a total of twenty-eight colonies spread throughout the Unknown Regions, which the Parliament governed. The Senate’s members were voted by the resident Chiss of each world. Once voted into parliament, a Chiss would receive the title of House Leader, speak on behalf of their own planet in the Chiss Senate. The Chiss citizens and even four Ruling Families, explicitly the Nuruodo, Csapla, Sabosen and finally the Inrokini  also had their own representatives. The main operating building was located on Csilla in the city of Csaplar, the capital world and city of the Ascendancy and was referred to as the House Palace. Simpler conclusions were made by the Chiss Parliament itself, while problems of greater importance were handled by categorised Cabinets and then finally handed over to the Ruling Families to decide.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

There is not much recorded history of the parliament itself and even then, it’s only small parts of background which do not impact the flow of the galaxy all too much. It has been stated that in 25 ABY, long after the discovery of the Chiss’ homeworld Csilla, a research book was written and issued by the University of Sanbra that included the Chiss Senate. It was a sentientologist, which were scientists who studied sentient species, named Tem Eliss who did so and it was named “The University of Sambra: Guide to Intelligent Life”.

The so-called House Leaders were responsible for their entire colony, which included to assign Syndics to their worlds and to form the Phalanx. A Phalanx is a military term for a defensive division specifically assigned to a colony, which they had to protect. The term of House Leader only became known to the rest of the galaxy after the publication of the book written by the sentientologist mentioned before.
