Article Theme/Topic: Chiss Expeditionary Library
General Information Body Paragraph:
The Expeditionary Library of the Chiss was also referred to as the Chiss Data Library and was comparable to the Jedi Archives. But unlike the more known Jedi records, most of their documents and texts were in written form, meaning in the form of books instead of holographic books and data tapes. This was due to the dangerous ice storms often occuring on the Chiss capital planet, Csilla, as they were able to cause significant damage to holobooks and consequently also destroy the data stored in them, even though the library was located underground, as most structures were on the Chiss homeworld. Because of that, each bookshelf or groups of them were categorised to different topics, so Chiss would have an easier time finding what suits their needs. Its size was similar to that of a standard docking bay, featuring over four stories. It is described that the library had yellow-pigmented lights decorating its ceiling and the walls filled up with quite an amount of bookshelves which told various stories. The archives of the Chiss were also large enough to host a rather big snowwood table, wood which came from a type of tree only found on Csilla. Comparing it to the surface world, the library was said to be relatively warm, cosy even.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
The Chiss Data Library dates back millenia, so it can in fact be considered ancient already. 27.000 BBY to be exact. Though who or which group founded it, remains unknown. Young Chiss have been taught important knowledge with help of the Expeditionary Library ever since. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, which broke out only a few decades after the Battle of Yavin, the Chiss archives contained millions or perhaps even billions of pages, filled with ancient lore. After all, knowledge had been sourced from a variety of places and species for hundreds of generations by then. In the year 28 ABY, Jedi Luke Skywalker and his expedition team in search of a planet called Zonama Sekot, became one of the very few non-Chiss individuals to ever go through the doors, entering the library. It was the Ruling Families of the Chiss that granted Skywalker such permission and even supplied them with a guide to assist them in finding answers. It was there, where the searching party would find the guidance they required and ultimately found the system of the planet. Later, after the war had ended, the Expeditionary Library was even mentioned in an article in 36 BBY about the Yuuzhan Vong War for its aid in search of the world Zonama Sekot.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
Although the Unknown Regions did not have any universally spoken language like the rest of the galaxy, a vast bulk was also translated into Galactic Basic, while few remained in just the native Chiss language, Cheunh.
