General Information Body Paragraph

The Death Star (or DS-1 Death Star Mobile Battle Station) was arguably the deadliest mechanical tool in the Galactic Empire’s vast military arsenal. Its code name during early stages of the first Death Star’s production, the ‘Ultimate Weapon’ adds weight to this argument. It was created to enhance the Imperial Military Ideology known as the Tarkin Doctrine (named after the eventual commander of the station, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin). 

History/Background Body Paragraph

The design of the Death Star began during the Clone Wars by the CIS aligned Geonosians. The financial conglomerates of the CIS: the Techno Union; Trade Federation; Muunilinst Banking Clan and secretly, the Galactic Republic, funded the project. Using the plans as evidence of a CIS superweapon, Lord Sidious (posing as Chancellor Sheev Palpatine) began building a Republic station to counter the perceived threat. Of course, we know now that Sidious was playing both sides, meaning the CIS superweapon was exactly what he ordered. Inheriting these plans after the fall of the Confederacy, the Empire built the majority of the Station above Geonosis but moved to the orbit of the island-dotted military facility planet of Scarif to finalize the construction. The project was discharged to the responsibility of the Imperial Navy and the care of Tarkin.

Additional Information Body Paragraph

DS-1 utilized the power of massive kyber crystals to focus a beam formed out of a hypermatter annihilation reactor. These crystals were harvested from ancient Jedi facilities such as the Temple of Jedha, and their effects were researched by Galen Eryso. The amalgamated weapon, at full power, could fire a single laser which had the capacity to destroy a planet. In addition to this, for defensive operations, the station was fitted with 15,000 turbo laser emplacements with 768 tractor beam rays, these were intended to repel fleets of ships rather than singular starfighters so there was limited focus fire other than the complement of TIE fighters.
