General Information Body Paragraph

Bogan is one of planet Tython’s two moons. While its counterpart, Ashla, is a place for harnessing the light side aspect of the Force, Bogan’s power potency is leaning towards the dark side of the Force. It has a breathable atmosphere for most species found across the galaxy, which allowed force-sensitives to travel to this world and use it’s powers to harness their own power in the Force. Bogan was mainly used as a place of exile and study for those who were too attuned with the light side of the Force during the time of the Je’daii Order.

History/Background Body Paragraph

Bogan’s history is cloudy as there are not many ancient texts confirming or denying some of the purposes this Tythanic natural satellite had been used for, but from what we can gather we can understand the following: The ancient Je’daii, ancestors of the modern Jedi and Sith used Bogan and Ashla to achieve “Bendu”, a state of balance in the use of the Force. Those who veered too much towards the light side, would in turn be sent to the moon of Bogan to regain the balance. However, at some point between 25793 BBY and 25783 BBY, a separation occurred, where Je’daii whose allegiance sided with the dark side used Bogan’s raw and potent abilities to empower their uncontrollable hunger. This created a schism between those who strived for balance, and those who fell to far into the dark side aspect of the Force. As a result, Bogan was used as a place of worship by dark side users who now wanted more power to themselves and their respective dark side user clique. The Je’daii separated into two groups, the predecessor of the Jedi who used the light side of the Force for benevolent and selfless intents, harnessing it from Ashla, and the Je’daii who used the dark side of the force for selfish reasons.

The light side users eventually won, which forced the dark side users to flee, and thus leaving Bogan deserted for millenia to come. Now, the moon is a place hosting ancient ruins hinting at the devastation that had happened.

After the war, Tython was revisited a small number of times by Jedi, but they never resettled on the planet, until Jedi Master and High Council member Satele Shan rediscovered the existence of the planet and set up a new Jedi Academy on the planet. They banned travel to any of the planet’s moons, and Bogan remained abandoned.
