Article Title/Topic: Jedi Temple (Tython)
General Information Body Paragraph:
The Jedi Temple on Tython was the headquarters of the Jedi Order after the Sacking of Coruscant during the Great Galactic War. Located in the Deep Galactic Core, the historic planet of Tython would be rediscovered by the Jedi not long after the Great Hunt. Tython was a very significant location to rebuild the Jedi Temple, simply because the Jedi Order was founded thousands of years before on the very same planet. The two story temple, constructed from local timber and stone, sat comfortably within the mountain ranges of the Tythos Ridge, and atop the foundations of an ancient temple.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
After the Great Hunt, Tython became inaccessible due to the collapse of hyperlanes to the planet. Tython remained abandoned for many centuries until finally in 3651 BBY, new hyperlanes to the Deep Core were created by Jedi Knight Satele Shan in order to evade the Sith Empire. Jedi Scouts would soon reclaim the planet. Shan reestablished a Jedi presence on Tython which led it becoming the fortress of the Jedi Order during the Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. The temple was constructed between the years 3650 and 3647 BBY by Jedi Architects of the Order.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
The Sith Empire launched an invasion of Tython around 3637 BBY. They caused severe damage to the Temple’s exterior and the surrounding grounds. Everybody present was killed, including Jedi Council member Oric Traless. Jedi Master Satele Shan was not present during the time of the invasion and was unable to assist. Luckily, her son Theron Shan was responsible for leading a counter-invasion which led to the Jedi retaking the Temple. Tython would remain home to the Jedi until the end of the Republic Dark Age which lasted from around 1100 BBY to 1000 BBY. The Jedi would soon reconstruct the Temple on Coruscant which they occupied until the Great Jedi Purge in 19 BBY.
