The YT-1300 is known as the  millennium falcon, a smuggling vessel piloted by the smuggler known as han solo and his co-pilot chewbacca. The millennium falcon had become a part of the infamous rebel alliance fleet was a heavily modified YT-1300 of the YT-1300f variety.  Some of the vessels saw service as intermodal tugs in orbital freight yards, as the vessel's side-mounted cockpit, although the design was modular enough to allow enterprising captains to modify their ships. Standard YT-1300s had powerful Girodyen SRB42 sunlight engines and an Avatar 10 hyperdrive and were powered by a Quadex core. They also contained a SuperFlow IV computer that controlled the ship's most critical functions while a Rubicon navicomputer handled navigation tasks and calculated paths for hyperspace jumps.

As not much history is known on a YT-1300 except for the Millennium Falcon Which is a modified YT-1300. The Millennium Falcon  was first owned by the smuggler Lando Calrissian; it accumulated many modifications for convenience and luxury, including painted exterior panels and a large escape pod. However, during Han Solo's famous Kessel Run, when he piloted the freighter for the first time, many of these additional equipment were destroyed or lost, leaving the ship battered by the time Solo won it from Calrissian soon after in a sabacc game. It includes anti-sensor smuggling compartments, used during the rescue of Princess Leia Organa aboard the 0 BBY to evade Imperial stormtroopers. The Millennium Falcon then saw further action when Solo chose to join the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Yavin, where it was able to sneak up and fire on Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, allowing Luke Skywalker to fire proton torpedoes from the His T-65B Starfighter X-wing destroyed the Death Star.

There was a small cargo hold in the front of the ship that was serviced by a freight loading room between the mandibles that allowed the YT-1300 to carry a maximum of 25 metric tons.
