Article Title/Topic Grand Inquisitor
General Information:
The Grand Inquisitor serves as the main antagonist of the first season and is a former Jedi Temple Guard who becomes a high-ranking member of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius.
History/Background:
Before the rise of the Empire, the Grand Inquisitor was a Jedi Temple Guard tasked with protecting the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. However, when the Empire purged the Jedi Order, the Grand Inquisitor was one of the few who survived and subsequently joined the Inquisitorius. As an Inquisitor, his primary duty was to hunt down and eliminate any remaining Jedi.
The Grand Inquisitor's effectiveness in his role as an Inquisitor earned him the admiration of Darth Vader, who saw in him a ruthless and devoted enforcer of the Emperor's will. As such, the Grand Inquisitor is promoted to the rank of "Grand Inquisitor," which puts him overseeing the entire Inquisitorius and reporting directly to Vader.
Additional Information:
The Grand Inquisitor was a formidable adversary, not only due to his extensive training as a Jedi Temple Guard but also because of his profound knowledge of the Force. He was exceptionally skilled in lightsaber combat and was known for using the double-bladed spinning lightsaber, which he used to deadly effect against his opponents.
Despite his loyalty to the Empire, the Grand Inquisitor had a sense of honor and believed he was serving a greater purpose by hunting down the remaining Jedi. He believed that the Jedi were a threat to the stability of the galaxy and that their eradication was necessary for the greater good.
However, the Grand Inquisitor's unwavering loyalty to the Empire and the Emperor was ultimately his downfall. When he faces off against the rebel crew of the Ghost, the young Jedi, Kanan Jarrus, defeats him. Rather than face the humiliation of being defeated by a Jedi, the Grand Inquisitor chose to end his own life, sacrificing himself to deny the rebels the satisfaction of a victory over him.Kanan Jarrus.
