Darth Maul was a force-sensitive Dathomirian Zabrak Dark Lord of the Sith who lived during the diminishing years of the Galactic Republic. Darth Maul was known for his amazing combative skills, his dexterity, and his double-bladed saber which made him capable of dominating multiple opponents at a time. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Darth Maul, a Dathomiri Nightbrother, was born on Dathomir. He was given to the Sith Lord Darth Sidious by his mother, for him to train in the ways of the darkside. Moreover, he was Sidious’ secret apprentice. Most of his trainings were held at a secret Mustafar facility. Throughout his trainings, he proved to be a master of lightsaber combat and the deadly martial art known as Teräs Käsi. He was technically a violation of the Rule of Two since his master was also an apprentice to another master, the Muun Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis. However, Sidious’ master was well aware of him having an apprentice despite being an apprentice. In fact, Plagueis supported Sidious’ decision to take in Maul as his apprentice due to Maul being trained to be expendable. Years later, he was sent on a mission in Naboo where he had a battle against Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi. He succeeded in killing Kenobi’s master but little did he know that Kenobi was highly trained so he ended up getting his body severed in half. Sidious then took another apprentice to replace Maul due to his situation. Filled with rage, he was able to survive and escape.

He retained his mobility through the construction of mechanical spider legs. Maul ate rodents and pests to survive. Over time, his mind slowly began to diminish, and his sanity wavered. Luckily, his people were able to track him down and rehabilitate him. They gave Maul a new set of prosthetic legs since his spider legs won’t be of use anymore. Later on, a competition was held to determine who was worthy of becoming a successor to Sidious. Unfortunately, Maul lost to Vader which led him to his death.
