General Information Body Paragraph: The R2-D2 was a robotic device created by Industrial Automaton with a male programming system. Despite his many different owners, he was never subjected to a complete memory wipe or any new instructions. This led him to become courageous and innovative in difficult situations, helping the galaxy to survive through some of its most troubling times. His tenacity and resourcefulness enabled him to be an integral part of history.

History/Background Body Paragraph: R2-D2 first started working for Queen Amidala of Naboo, but later went on to serve Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars. Following Anakin's transformation to the dark side of the Force, R2 worked with Senator Bail Organa in the Imperial Senate. Later, R2 helped the Rebel Alliance destroy the Death Star by carrying important technical readouts to them. After this, he followed Luke Skywalker throughout the Galactic Civil War and witnessed both Battles of Hoth and Endor, as well as the second Death Star's destruction four years after its predecessor's. For thirty years following that, R2 accompanied Luke until his failed attempt at reviving the Jedi Order in 28 ABY. After this, R2 entered low power mode due to newer droid models surpassing him in computing abilities.

Additional Information Body Paragraph: In spite of this, his acclaimed role in the Rebellion kept him from the regular disposal process of numerous older droids, giving him a semi-retirement in the Resistance as he went through a few decades of continual information, and envisioned his most exciting journeys.
