Nerfs were a species of non-sentient animals that were raised for their milk, meat, and hide. While they could be found on a vast variety of planets, such as Lothal and Arkanis, they were mostly known for being native to the planet of Alderaan. They were useful, but often called “disgusting” because of the strong body odor that they had.

Nerfs had curving horns and coarse brown fur that covered their bodies. Their bleats resembled the language used by the Aqualish people. Nerfs were herbivores, which meant they ate growing grass and herbs. Female Nerfs produced milk. The milk produced by the females wasn’t blue, different to what Bantha cows produced. Specific breeds of nerfs depended on their planet. One could be found on planets like Jaresh, and another on Alderaan.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Nerfs were raised for several reasons. One of them was their milk, but on other occasions, they were used for their meat, hide, or even fur. A village on the planet of Zeffo, for example, used Nerf fur for canvas products.  Their meat could be used in various dishes, which included but weren’t limited to Nerf steaks, Nerf stews, and Nerf nuggets. Their milk, similar to Bantha’s blue milk, had nutritional benefits. Furthermore, nerf hide was used for leather goods. Those who herded Nerfs for a living were regarded as “Nerf herders”.

Additional Information Body Paragraph 

During the Galactic Civil War, between the Allied Rebels and the Galactic Empire, heroes Han Solo and Luke Skywalker transported a group of female Nerfs on Solo’s ship, the Millenium Falcon. These Nerfs were intended for the population of Ibaar, who had shortages of food. Princess Leia Organa is said to have told Han Solo something along the lines of “scruffy-looking nerf herder” prior to the notorious invasion of an Alliance base on Hoth by the Empire.
