Republic officers were military officers in military uniforms who served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. They commanded the warships of the Republic Navy and assisted members of the Jedi Order in their new role as leaders. Some officers, such as Wilhuff Tarkin, Orson Krennic, and Wullf Yularen, later served the Galactic Republic and then the Galactic Empire. 

History/Background Body Paragraph: 

The position of Republic officer was created as a result of the Clone Wars. Having to outwit pirates before the conflict, Republic officers were able to work amid dangerous obstacles. Throughout the war, officers who were not clones served alongside their Jedi counterparts. The position of Republic officer was replaced by Imperial officer.

The strict military discipline of the officers was at odds with the Jedi concept of war. The officers included Admirals Barton Coburn, Shoan Kilian, and Wullf Yularen. The rigid officer deplored General Anakin Skywalker's willingness to interpret or disobey orders.
