Clone pilot HOB-147 operated a V-19 Torrent starfighter for the Grand Army of the Republic's Light Brigade Division. During the Clone Wars, he was shot down in space, yet he managed to live aboard his starfighter and drifted across space while unconscious. Hurd Coyle, a junk salvager, saved him shortly after the GAR issued Order 66, one of the 150 contingency orders ordering the clone army to exterminate all Jedi. Order 66 started the Great Jedi Purge, which almost completely destroyed the Jedi Order. This gave then-Supreme Chancellor Palpatine the opportunity to restructure the Republic into the Galactic Empire and formally proclaim himself the Galactic Emperor.

The bounty hunter Jango Fett was cloned numerous times on the planet Kamino, and one of them was the clone trooper pilot HOB-147. HOB-147 flew a V-19 Torrent starfighter for the Light Brigade Division in a space battle between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems just prior to the Battle of Utapau. 147's starfighter was severely damaged during the combat, leaving him stranded in space. Upon awakening, 147 found himself encircled by droids. The clone leaped out of his bed, thinking he had been taken prisoner by the Separatists, and began using his bare hands to smash the droids. Coyle was shocked to discover that 147 had destroyed his new droids when he came in. The Captain blasted 147 with an electro-dart, knocking him down and rendering him totally paralyzed in an attempt to halt the clone. Coyle carried the clone to a little room and shackled his leg to the wall while 147 was rendered helpless.
