Coruscant was the main core world of the Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire. It was an ecumenopolis, meaning the one city covered the total surface of the planet. The population numbered trillions with no effective means to gather a precise measurement. Coruscant was the beginning and end of many trade routes throughout the galaxy and this economic importance boosted the prominence of the planet. Major landmarks took roots here such as the Jedi Temple and Senate Building, both imposing images of powerful collectives. As one of the largest conflicts in Galactic history raged on, more and more militaristic elements could be found upon the planet. The Grand Clone Army established the Coruscant Guard, effectively putting the planet under military police rule. This oppressed citizens under the pretense of security as the conflict entered its twilight. Coruscant played host to one of the most historic events in the events of Star Wars, the Order 66 attack upon the Jedi Temple. This attack was instrumental in the establishment of the Empire.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Coruscant is widely accepted as the homeworld of the Human Species. However, before this, the planet played host to the sentient species of the Taung and Zhell, being the precursor to the Mandalorian culture. The ancient Sith built a shrine on Coruscant during their tenure on the planet which the Jedi then built the Temple overtop upon their return.

Coruscant has been reported to contain 5,127 intercity levels, each containing either residents or some function keeping the city running, the adage being that the lower the level the inhabitant lived on, the lower standard of living was asserted. The capital held the coordinates of 0-0-0 on almost all navigation maps, denoting its importance within the galaxy.
