Born around 360 BBY, Azlin Rell was a human male who served as a Jedi Knight. Azlin was devoted to the Force, even trusting it with his life. He started off as a Padawan to Jedi Master Arkoff and became a Jedi Knight in 382 BBY. Throughout his life, Azlin Rell was given many assignments by and with the Jedi High Council. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

In his first year as a Jedi Knight, Azlin was sent to the Outer Rim Territories to assist with the migration of grass sharks from a trading outpost. After their success, Azlin Rell was tasked to investigate the Path of the Open Hand cult regarding the theft of the Rod of Seasons. The Rod of Seasons was a powerful tool that could control the Shrii Ka Raii, a species capable of decimating the Force within individuals.

Two Jedi Knights were sent to Dalna to retrieve the stolen Rod of Seasons. They had infiltrated the Path of the Open Hand’s headquarters but were soon attacked. The leader of the Path of the Open Hand sent a Shrii Ka Raii, labeled as the Leveler, to attack the Jedi. The two Jedi Knights, who were both friends of Azlin, were killed horrifically. Azlin arrived shortly after, but the Path of the Open Hand had already dispersed and abandoned the planet. While he was on the planet of Dalna, Azlin could feel his connection to the Force growing dim. After searching through the former headquarters of the Path of the Open Hand, he stumbled upon a pile of pulverized stone. Azlin soon realized that the pile of rubble and ash were his two friends. He clinged to the Force for safety in hopes that he could return their ashes to Coruscant for proper burial. Weeks later, the Path of the Open Hand returned to their former base.  After hearing about the deaths on Dalna, members of the Jedi High Council decided they needed to investigate this themselves.  Councillors Ela Sutan and Gluth Andoi joined Azlin as they embarked back to Dalna. The Council brought several Jedi Knights and Masters to help them on their mission. Upon entering the headquarters, they were immediately attacked by droids. The three Jedi scurried through the halls of the enemy base looking to take refuge. In a mere moment, all three of them felt instant fear and felt cold. The Shrii Ka Rai had appeared in front of them, killing Gluth Andoi and turning her into a frail corpse of dust. At the sight of the Shrii Ka Rai, Azlin dropped his lightsaber in a moment of panic and screamed in terror. After the Shrii Ka Rai left, Azlin gathered the courage to continue their mission. Later on during the battles against the Path of the Open Hand, Azlin felt the same terror he had felt before the appearance of the Shrii Ka Rai. He had tried to warn the others not long before an explosion went off, isolating the Jedi from the battle. The Shrii Ka Rai soon appeared and killed more Jedi, turning them into corpses of fear. After the battle, which was named the Night of Sorrow, Azlin Rell was plagued with insanity and feared that the Shrii Ka Rai would return. He started to hear voices, shakily wrote notes about the Shrii Ka Rai, and eventually left the Jedi Order. Afterwards, Azlin felt he had no choice but to embrace the dark side of the Force, believing it would cure his insanity and fear. He spent years studying the Shrii Ka Rai but never overcame his fear. Madness took over his life, with the sight of the creature ingrained in his life. Azlin Rell soon decided to gouge out his eyes  so he would not have to see the horrific beast if it returned. For nearly a century afterwards, he continued to live in fear with empty eye sockets that he would turn into a pile of ash. By around 230 BBY, Azlin Rell was discovered by Master Yoda, and was slowly trained to manage his insanity. Master Yoda covered Azlin’s entire face with brown bandages to hide his identity from any former Jedi he may have known. Throughout the years, Azlin Rell was trained to manage his fear and helped the Jedi Order to better understand the Shrii Ka Rai.
