The Shadow Collective was a crime organization created by Lord Maul during the Clone Wars. Maul planned to compete for galactic rule against Darth Sidious’s Empire and eventually overthrow him. The Shadow Collective gathered many groups together to overthrow the Republic at the time, and then the Empire when it was formed. Numerous organizations including the Hutt Clan, the Pyke Syndicate, the Nightbrothers of Dathomir, and even Death Watch, a terrorist group of Mandalorians.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Formed in 19 BBY, the Shadow Collective was originally a small group of Maul and the Death Watch Mandalorians who wanted to reclaim Mandalore. However, Maul wanted to conquer more than Mandalore and sought to take over galactic systems. Maul, Death Watch, and the Nite Owls then went to Nal Hutta to gather the Hutt Clan, despite their attempts to neutralize Maul’s conquest.

Hearing of Maul’s grab for power, Darth Sidious proceeded to Mandalore to end their reign for good. Maul and Savage Opress dueled against Sidious resulting in their defeat and the death of Opress. Lord Maul was held captive on the planet of Stygeon Prime due to Sidious believing that he could no longer be a threat to the Galactic Empire. However, the Shadow Collective was still loyal to Lord Maul and managed to rescue him from the prison. By the end of the Clone Wars, Maul had contacted the leaders of the Collective and told them to go into hiding, eventually being disbanded after Maul had been captured and lost control of Mandalore.
