Article Theme/Topic: Chad
General Information Body Paragraph:
Located in the Jospro sector of the Outer Rim Territories, the planet of Chad was home to the Chadra-Fan and some humans. 75% of the planet was covered in oceans, with many habitable areas being swamps or mountainous. The population consisted of over 20 million native Chadra-Fan and over 10,000 humans. Chad was located in an area of the Outer Rim known as the Slice, an area between the Inner Rim, the Core Worlds, the Mid Rim, and the Expansion Region. The systems and planets within the Slice were well developed due to their tactical positions for trade routes and population flow. However, Chad was not included in their endeavors for improvement. With no permanent landing facilities, traders were rare to see.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
Chad’s government consisted of clans that ruled with anarchy. Those who lived on the outskirts of less populated areas would typically form their own government which consisted of local farmers. While Chad was left behind in the industrial and development era of the galaxy, there were still useful things that the Chadra-Fan could barter. The rarely-seen traders would bring new technology to Chad, but the natives made no use of them. Despite their lack of technological advances, the planet of Chad eventually became a dairy capital within the galaxy, increasing their economy to a sustainable level. However, an economy that depended on milk produced an abundance of methane gas, causing horrific storms within the atmosphere of Chad.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
The Chadra-Fan were small, rodent-like creatures with a face similar to a bat. They had seven heightened senses and worked all day for their lives. Due to their heightened senses, small stature, and metabolism rates, the typical lifespan of a Chadra-Fan was 20-35 years. The Chadra-Fan would sleep during the midday in fear of hurricanes on Chad. They did not build structural homes due to being washed away by the planet’s torrential weather. The Chadra-Fan would refer to hurricanes as “Death Waves,” which started in 10 BBY. By 9 ABY, the fifth Death Wave caused tidal waves to crash down and kill hundreds of thousands of their kind. However, the planet of Chad was not a part of the Galactic Republic and thus, received no aid for the natives.
