Article Theme/Topic: Hammerhead Corvette
General Information Body Paragraph:
During the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire, the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the New Republic Security Bureau used the Sphyrna-class Hammerhead corvette, also called the Sphyrna-class C80 corvette and more popularly just the Hammerhead corvette, as a mainline warship. This corvette model saw widespread use during the Imperial Era as an armed transport. The corvette was used in the pan-galactic conflict between the Sith Eternal and the armies of the galaxy as well as in the Resistance's ongoing usage against the First Order during the Cold War.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
Before the Corellian Engineering Corporation's CR-series corvettes, which included the CR70 corvette that was in use as Order 66 was being implemented at the end of the Clone Wars, there existed the Sphyrna-class Hammerhead corvette.
A few decades after the Galactic Empire was transformed in 19 BBY, at least one abandoned Hammerhead corvette was found among the wreckage on the planet Bracca alongside other starships like Venator-class Star Destroyers, Providence-class Dreadnoughts, and Acclamator-class assault ships. Hammerhead corvettes were already in use during the Imperial Era by private shipping companies, smuggler and pirate fleets, and other factions, including the Royal House of Alderaan.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
The fledgling Alliance Fleet consisted partly of modified Hammerheads, part of a motley array of warships that remained after the rebellion was regrouped into the Alliance to Restore the Republic. One such vessel was the Lightmaker, commanded by Kado Oquoné and a member of Admiral Raddus' fleet right before the Battle of Yavin. The ship participated in the Battle of Scarif. Raddus gave the order for it to smash into the side of the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Persecutor during the battle. This caused it to smash into the Intimidator, another Star Destroyer, and finally, the Shield Gate, which allowed the Imperial base on the planet's surface to transmit the Death Star plans. Following the fleet's receipt of the communication, Shortly before the Devastator arrived, at least one Hammerhead corvette, the Consonance, and a portion of the fleet started the journey into hyperspace.
