Article Theme/Topic: Chiss Ascendancy
General Information Body Paragraph:
Created by the Chiss, a blue-skinned type of species, the Chiss Ascendancy served as an aristocracy that only included the most beneficial and sovereign people residing in the galaxy. Many believe that the Chiss Ascendancy was a hoax or merely a legend, however, the Chiss Ascendancy hid for thousands of years from the outside worlds. They were stationed in the Unknown Region and believed that isolation was key to their existence.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
In 5,100 BBY, a group of philosophers united and formed the First Ruling Family. They opposed war and believed that they were better off isolated in their newly founded nation. However, by 5,000 BBY the Chiss had discovered a superweapon known as Starflash, a weapon capable of firing lightspeed tachyonic energy at a star and creating a funnel of destructive power towards an enemy. The Chiss used this weapon on an unknown species who were considered a threat to the galaxy. It took 20 men to operate the Starflash, but once it launched it utterly decimated the enemy’s starship, the planet the Chiss had taken refuge to, and even the Starflash weapon itself. Following this, the Chiss relocated to several other planets across the span of hundreds of years.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
The Chiss Ascendancy was ruled by the Ruling Families, and the number of families fluctuated between one and twelve. During the downfall of the Jedi Order and the start of the Galactic Empire, there were the Nine Ruling Families. While the Chiss Ascendancy preferred isolation and non-interventionism, they did have outside relations. They had formed their own militaries known as the Chiss Defense Force and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet, both of which were tasked to defend Chiss territories. The Chiss Ascendancy did not believe in expansion from battling in wars, and would only engage in battles if they believed it was absolutely necessary. Through this, their society gained a sense of superiority, security, and a culture that favored utilitarianism above all.
