Galactic Basic Standard, most commonly known as Galactic Basic, Galactic Standard, or just Basic, was the most prevalent and abundant language in the galaxy. It was very widely known by lots of species throughout the cosmos and most humans spoke Basic instead of their mother tongue. Galactic Standard was largely inspired by the languages of the various founding species of the Galactic Republic: the Humans, the Duros, and the Bothans.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Galactic Basic Standard was the lingua franca of the galaxy, using the Aurebesh script.

Not very long after the formation of the old and first Galactic Republic, Old Galactic Standard was created and chosen as the new official language of government and commerce. It took words from Old Coruscanti (language of the Coruscant humans), but its vocabulary also had words from a dozen other languages, such as Durese and Bothese. By around 15.600 BBY, the language involved into Mid-Galactic Standard, and after the Vultans joined the Republic at around 14,000 BBY, it evolved once again into the modern Basic.

Additional Information Body Paragraph 

Under the Galactic Empire, a version of the language was known as Imperial Basic. The language was adopted by the Rebel Alliance, and as such was spoken in the Alliance of Free Planets, the New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, among others.
