General Information Body Paragraph: A death stick was an illicit drug that was accessible in the Coruscant underworld and other places around the galaxy. Being highly addictive, they were popular among desperate users and thrill seekers since they were delivered within luminous sticks.  Ixetal cilona, derived from the balo mushrooms found on the planet Balosar, was refined and distilled to make death sticks. 

History/Background Body Paragraph: Death sticks were first used in the High Republic Era, circa 230 BBY. Ovarto Bitolo-Bash smoked one, despite being forbidden from doing so at his workplace. In 22 BBY, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi entered the Outlander Club on Coruscant's Uscru Entertainment District in an effort to find Zam Wesell, an assassin who had targeted Senator Padmé Amidala. Elan Sel'Sabagno approached Kenobi and tried to sell him death sticks – however, Kenobi used mind trick and convinced him into believing that he wanted to go home and reevaluate his life, rather than sell him death sticks.

There is a theory that a Jedi, known as Rael Averross, became addicted to these death sticks but was never caught for it.
