Crossguard swords were a rare type of sword used by a few individuals of both the Light and Dark side users of the Force. The sword had two openings, called quillons, and was usually used by users of the Makashi form III combat form during the Great Scourge of Malachor.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

The saber was most notably used during the Great Scourge of Malachor, and Darth Atrius owned a pair of the sabers at the time when the Sith were still strong not only in power but also in numbers. During the High Republic era,  Jedi Master Stellan Gios owned a saber that resembled the Crossguard lightsaber and had arms on its hilt that folded in when not in use and extended when in use.

Additional Information Body Paragraph:

A Jedi Master named Creighton Sun used a blue-bladed sword that looked like a cross sword on Malachor during the Galactic Civil War. When the sword was picked up, it immediately activated and almost broke, after which it immediately deactivated.
