Oppo Rancisis was a Thisspiasian male born during the High Republic Era on the planet Thisspias. He was the heir to the Blood Monarchy but joined the Jedi Order instead of claiming his birthright. Oppo was a short being, standing at just under 1.4 meters in height. His appearance was similar to that of a Wookie, with brown hair covering most of his body. Oppo served on the Jedi High Council in 232 BBY during the time of the High Republic and was noted to be full of wisdom of the Force. Due to his species, Oppo Rancisis served as one of the Jedi Council’s oldest members, living nearly 300 standard years. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

While his birth year remains unknown, it is known that he was born before the year 280 BBY, as he was noted rescuing slaves from the Zygerrian Alliance in 272 BBY and was already a Jedi Master and had a Padawan. During his time on the Jedi Council, he had to make decisions regarding their involvement in Galactic wars. After raiders had attacked Oppo and the Jedi, he motioned that the Jedi act as a military force, supporting his claim with the Jedi’s history of wars. Oppo had even built a Jedi Temple on the planet of Tanalorr, but it was abandoned due to the Nihil raiders. The Jedi Council had agreed to act as guardians of the peace by supporting the efforts to eliminate the Nihil, resulting in the Battle of Kur in 232 BBY.

Oppo Rancisis remained on the Jedi Council for many years, even witnessing the examination of a young Anakin Skywalker. Oppo and the Jedi Council collectively agreed to deny the training of Anakin Skywalker but later changed their decision after the death of Qui-Gonn Jinn. In 19 BBY, Chancellor Palpatine and Darth Vader, formerly known as Anakin Skywalker, attacked the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, initiating the Jedi Purge. While many Jedi Knights and younglings were killed, Oppo Rancisis survived this attack but was eventually killed in 19 BBY.
