General Information Body Paragraph

Alderaan was a Core garden planet inhabited by various creatures. It was mainly a cityscape, with many high-rising buildings. This planet played an important role in the Galactic Republic as a primary hub for the senators when not on Coruscant, as well as a popular place to gather and communicate. The planet was beautiful, with a large city and some abstract landscapes, nature and technology often melded together in harmony as metal metropolises arose intertwined with surrounding forests. Not only did it play a role in the Republic, but also a role against the Empire; Alderaan was a central base for the Rebel Alliance. Alderaan, however, had an unfortunate fate early into the Galactic Civil War- destroyed by the Empire’s Death Star; the Rebels took a massive blow. Alderaan was ruled mainly by the Organa family, a royal family who lived in a palace in Alderaan.

History/Background Body Paragraph

Alderaan was a powerful ally for the Galactic Republic, though the planet lacked a representative in the Galactic Senate due to fierce opposition by Sheev Palpatine, Senator of Naboo. However, in 18 BBY, after the Queen of Naboo urged Sheev to allow them to take a seat, the people of Alderaan finally found their representative in Bail Prestor Organa. During the Clone Wars, Alderaan hosted a major conference regarding the war itself and its survivors, deciding to help host refugees and aid them in getting back on their feet. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Bail Organa rebelled against the Empire and formed the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and became a major safe world for the Rebellion. This would ultimately lead to the Empire destroying the planet, in order to wipe out the remaining Rebel forces within.

Alderaan had a vast landscape with rolling green hills, towering snow capped mountains, and lush forests. The planet was incredibly biodiverse, and the architecture of the inhabitants reflected an ideology of preserving and respecting this nature. Being a garden planet, Alderaan also had vast oceans and was covered in greenery; however, upon entering the planet’s atmosphere it was not uncommon to see sprawling metropolises intertwined with the forest and greenery. In fact, even the royal palace was nestled in the mountains, built to seamlessly interconnect with the surrounding terrain. Princess Leia, the adoptive daughter of the Organas, was a key operative for the Rebels, and would be captured stealing the Death Star plans. During her interrogation, in which the Empire attempted to extract the location of the plans from her, the Death Star would be fired, destroying Alderaan and reducing it to an asteroid field.
