Mustafar was a planet located in the Atravis sector of the Outer Rim territory. The planet used to be full of wildlife and nourished, however, it had been turned into a planet of molten lava long before the Imperial Era due to the usage of the Bright Star. The planet would complete a full rotation every 36 hours and would revolve around Mustafar’s sun every 618 standard days. Due to its volcanic nature of lava pits and obsidian, Mustafar had a strong connection with the dark side. Mustafar remained a planet covered in lava and ash until 1 BBY when the Bright Star was destroyed due to the usage of Darth Vader attempting to bring Padme Amida back from death.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Once the planet became a volcanic center of darkness, the natural wildlife territories were renamed to fit the theme of the lava-filled Mustafar. With regions being named the Burning Plains, Tulrus Island, and the Smoking Forest, the planet had truly been transformed into a beacon of the dark side. The atmosphere was full of black smoke and constant lightning storms were brewing around the planet.

Mustafar was home to Darth Vader’s fortress, built to strengthen his connection to the dark side and to remind him of his failures. His failure emerged in 19 BBY when his former Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, dueled him on Mustafar, resulting in Darth Vader’s limbs being cut off and being left for dead. His condition after the duel is what caused him to need support from the suit, which would irritate his body, giving him more anger to use as fuel. After many designs, Fortress Vader was built in 12 BBY for him to reign over Mustafar.
